I'm Back
After being absent from the blogosphere for a long time I have finally managed to get time to make a post so here it is and being that I am getting back into it ad so I am just going to ramble here.
It is so nice to be out of school. It has been three weeks since school was let out and is freedom from academic restraints wonderful, even if it is for just a while. One nice thing about being home is that I can apply stuff I learned in school and it makes engineering fun. On the subject of school and engineering, how is it that professors can turn even the most interesting and exciting subject into a boring lecture. One way that I have found to combat engineering lecture boredom is to stay busy in class designing things and figuring out was to test them on paper. This serves to purposes. First according to my philosophy prof, it has been proven that students learn better while doodling, and secondly I am the type of student who learns by doing and not by listening to the properties of saturated R134-a for the fifth time. I do admit that sometimes I get distracted and start analyzing things in class that have nothing to do with engineering but then again what kind of engineer would I be if I didn't have a little bit of ADD. I must live up to the stereotype.
Overall school was OK and I made a lot of friends and no enemies that I no of. Though there is a lot of weird stuff taught at Dordt there are several nice students that made the time worth while, and I must say that the atmosphere at a private school is so much more comfortable than that of a public one.
There are two things about school that I must mention. The first is that some people do not know how to leave others alone. People think I am joking but you would not believe the number of people that would just walk into ones room and start spewing the heart out. Now, if I and my roommate Billy had nothing better to do, we would be happy to listen to other people's problems and to give them advice, but not when we have exams and homework that is due or eyelids that just won't stay open. Because of this I am looking forward to having an apartment next year.
The second thing that I've got to say is long overdue, it is about the weekends spent in Sioux Falls. Many a happy day was spent with Derek playing Hero-scape which has got to be the best board game ever invented. For those of you who don't know, Derek is a cool fellow homeschooler who just recently attained something that I won't for another two years; Derek is free of school, Lord willing, forever. That is right; Derek has graduated and is off to a life of work and play and no school. Ohh to be free for good! Well, there it is. My first post in months. Being that it has been so long I will probably not get any replies for some time because i am sure that most of you have quite checking for new posts.
